The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The track showcases a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the project have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
