Admittedly, it's Brimming with Nonsense, Extreme Hosting and Self-Help Jargon. But I Do Adore Meghan's Christmas Special.

No considering the season, it's perpetually fair game for scrutiny on the Duchess of Sussex's TV show, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, expert and amateur alike, have seldom found such common ground as when gleefully ripping the program's initial installments apart. The common opinion was that a greater royal outrage had hardly ever taken place than the now-infamous pretzel-bagging incident.

Presently, in the spirit of a holiday maverick, she has returned with a new offering with a "Christmas Special" (or a yuletide episode). But this time, things have shifted. The standard components audiences anticipate – psychobabble word salads, intense hospitality – are still present, but set of a Christmas special, the purpose becomes clear. The pieces have fallen together; it's a perfect snow storm.

By this point, Meghan resembles the oddball family member at Christmas celebrations everywhere – dispensing unsolicited, unnecessary advice, and supplying the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's a bit of a character, but her presence is familiar and oddly reassuring. And she seems pleased; she's inflicting the slightest hurt.

She knows her each tiny facial movement, syllable and gaze will be dissected and criticised, but still appears relaxed and serenely untroubled.

Maybe this is the initial instance in history where that well-worn saying – "Pay no mind, it's only envy" – could actually be true. Since, let's face it, all aspects in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is charming. Yes, it's all awkwardly over-the-top, nonsense and extravagant – but doesn't that represent just what Yuletide is all about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the walk she's walking genuinely looks beautifully curated.

Whatever she sets her mind to, she executes with style. Her cooking looks scrumptious, the holiday arrangement she crafts is stunning, her presents are almost too pretty to open. Not a single thing is mediocre or ugly – including the way she fastens her kitchen garment is creative and fashionable. She doesn't bung a dish in the oven, it "takes a twirl", and she wraps gift paper like an paper-folding expert. She also seems to be genuinely relishing herself from start to finish. How could any hate-watcher not be charmed, filled with seasonal cheer and left with a deep longing for handmade crackers or a vegetable display where greens is positioned in the likeness of a festive circle?

Meghan used to pretend for a living, obviously, but nonetheless, after the level of attention she has endured from the moment she became involved with Prince Harry, a theoretical combination of Meryl Streep and Judi Dench would find it hard to appear this authentically. Her decision to modify or even tone down her persona, regardless of it being so relentlessly, internationally ridiculed, is strangely reassuring. In our unpredictable world, here is something we can count on: Meghan will remain herself, come what may. We will consistently know what to expect with her.

If you're still not buying her brand, a thought that will undoubtedly come as a comfort: you are not obligated to. We don't have national service anymore, and should it be reinstated, it would be unlikely to include viewing With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you choose to watch and are gripped with envy about her idyllic Christmas, all is not lost either. Whether you're a royal or a everyday person, hardly any child truly appreciates the dedication and labor their mother puts in in December. So you can console yourself by imagining Archie and Lilibet's faces when they reveal a beautifully scripted letter that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, rather than a chocolate.
